The foremost event in the textile industry calendar, the quadrennial textile machinery exhibition ITMA, was held from 20-26 June 2019 in Barcelona, Spain. Over 1700 suppliers from 45 countries attended the exhibition, mainly to demonstrate the most advanced equipment and production management ideas in the global textile machinery industry.

As a renowned Chinese knitwear producer, Beijing Alphatex Knitting sent production director Peter Han and development director Cathy Li to the exhibition, led by general manager Christian Murphy, with a view to implementing smart production and a digitalized management model in order to raise efficiency.

This exhibition primarily included new technologies for knitting, spinning, winding, testing, and new software for managing the knitting process and integrated production system. During the event, Alphatex team visited displays by Shima Seiki and Stoll of new-generation equipment for knitwear.

The key focal points of the Alphatex team were knitting and auxiliary equipment, linking equipment, yarn processing equipment, special machines, and end-product packaging equipment.

At the event, Alphatex team not only found a preliminary solution to quality issues with three of its computerized flat knitting machines, but also got training regarding the use of Stoll’s PPS production management system.

Of special interest to the Alphatex team was visiting Complett one of Italy’s premier manufacturers of linking machines. Complett technicians demonstrated their QF system which automatically cuts the linking thread at end of process and electronically monitors the tension of the linking thread. Further to this demonstration Peter Han will travel to Italy in September to discuss a complete upgrade of Alphatex’s fine gauge linking machinery.

At the Galan stand the Alphatex representatives discussed upgrades to our yarn twisting machines and we are expecting a visit from their technicians to complete the upgrades before the end of October.

Overall it was a very rewarding visit to ITMA, and our management team gained a thorough understanding of the latest technological and mechanical development trends in the industry, which will be a significant boost to the company’s future growth.
