The first “Love, Nurture and Growth” Parent-Child Event
Having built a stable team of employees, General Manager Mr. Christian Murphy is committed to ensuring the healthy growth of every employee’s children. And so on August 6, 2019, Beijing Alphatex Knitting Company held its first-ever “Love, Nurture and Growth” summer event for families with two working parents, an idea first proposed by GM Mr. Christian Murphy at the 2018 Outstanding Staff Recognition Conference.
The two-day event was packed with exciting activities. The children and their parents visited some of Beijing’s most famous landmarks: Tsinghua University, one of China’s top universities; Tiananmen Square, the world’s largest public square; and the world-famous Palace Museum. The entire factory staff gave a warm welcome as the curious children got a chance to see their parents’ workplace for the first time. The older children got a chance to try their hands at their parents’ work hands-on, letting the parents share with their children a better understanding of their work. Chris gave the children a special look at his office, spending quality time with them and making them feel comfortable.
In a special group discussion, the children shared their dreams, and the parents talked about their expectations for the children. Haibo Yang, representing all the parents present, talked about her experience raising her son, helping the children understand that more than the time spent together, the foundation of love is understanding and support. After sharing his own experience of growing up, GM Meng encouraged the children with busy working parents to work hard and learn a spirit of independence to realize their dreams. He also suggested that parents actively nurture their children’s interests and hobbies and learn to trust their children to create their own future.
At the end of the event, the children and their parents enjoyed Quanjude Roast Duck, Beijing’s most famous delicacy, and received a special gift bag prepared by the company. But perhaps the best surprise was a game of Tadpole’s Mommy, where children of different ages tried to recognize the hands of their mothers. The children’s laugher and smiles showed that even if their busy parents are not always by their side, their love is always there.
Though the two days sped by, the event was a valuable opportunity for parents and children to spend time together, helping them better understand each other and come closer together. The company hopes that through this event, parents and children can better support one another, with the children better equipped to develop in mind, body, and spirit as their parents work to create happiness for their families and success for the company.
